Let’s get local on the menu!
We surveyed some local restaurants to find out if they would be interested in becoming part of an initiative to build a community where local food is easy to find. 93% of those surveyed indicated that it was important to them to support and serve local food. But, when asked whether it was important that their customers (you) knew… only 85% reported that it was!
We have to let them know it is important.
Here’s how: We’ve created this tool, a “local request” card.
- Pick up some “local request cards” at locations including: the Keene Farmers’ Market, Stonewall Farm Farmstand, Keene Public Library , and the Keene and Peterborough Chamber of Commerce offices… OR download the Monadnock Menus Request cards and print at home.
- Take them with you as you eat out at local restaurants and fill in your request for local food.
- Leave the card on the table with your tip, or give it directly to a manager.
- If you find restaurants serving any locally produced goods or products, share the word by posting a comment on our blog under Share Your Stories.
- Thank your local restaurant owners for getting local on their menu!
If you can’t find more Local Request Cards, contact us at monadnockmenus@gmail.com. Please take as many cards as you want, and pass them on to friends when you go out to eat.
We look forward to hearing your local eating stories!

What a great idea! Can The Boneless Rib help you promote this?
We would love to have other connections such as The Boneless Rib help promote our program. We’ll work that into our outreach strategy moving forward. Thanks for your comment!
